Grant Pooke

Grant Pooke is Senior Lecturer, School of Arts, University of Kent and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His research interests include Marxist Art Historiography of the interwar and Cold War periods, contemporary British art and teaching approaches to art history as an academic discipline. The centenary biography, Francis Klingender 1907-1955: A Marxist Art Historian Out of Time (Marx Memorial Library 2008) was shortlisted for the Isaac Deutscher Memorial Prize. He has just completed a Leverhulme-funded project concerned with cataloguing and researching a major archive of Soviet, Spanish Civil War, Comintern and Cold War posters at the Marx Memorial Library. Dr Pooke’s Contemporary British Art: An Introduction is at press (Routledge 2010).
